Best Festivals In The World And What's On My Bucket List Now
Travelling for festivals is totally a thing. From music festivals to carnivals, cultural gigs to holidays – they are on every traveller’s bucket list. Though festivals like La Tomatina got famous after a popular Bollywood movie, there are other festivals too across the globe that are very popular. For any travel enthusiast, these are must-visits as these festivals give you one thing for sure, an experience of a lifetime.
After attending Tomorrowland in Belgium (And loving it!), I have decided to add more music and cultural festivals to my future travel bucket list. But wait, a word of caution, these festivals have travellers who have planned for them months in advance. So, you need to do your bookings and financial planning well in advance. To cite a small example, hotel prices during Tomorrowland were 5x times the price during off-seasons. So yes, you need to plan well in advance for such trips.
Day of the Dead in Mexico
Day of the dead (Dia del Los Muertos) has been on my bucket list since forever. Something about the costumes, altars, ceremonies, cemetery visits and the entire concept of celebrating the dead, caught my attention.
After watching the popular animated movie ‘Coco’, I was surer than ever to visit Mexico during this time (Nov 1st and 2nd). I am now not even waiting till next year to cross it off. I have already booked my flights to Guanajuato in Mexico to witness the best day of the dead celebrations.
Songkran in Thailand
Want to attend the world’s biggest street water fight? Well then visiting Chiang Mai during Songkran (Apr 13th-15th) would ensure you have a great fun-filling time.
I plan to re-visit Chiang Mai in April 2020 to enjoy some fun-filled water fights (much like Holi in India, minus the colours) and then stay on to benefit from the big entrepreneur hub that Chiang Mai is. Killing two birds with one stone, now that’s a deal.
Burning Man in Nevada
With over 70,000 crazy party-goers attending this burning ‘Man’ towering over 105 feet, this is one of the craziest festivals in the world. Celebrated in August end, this one might have to wait a few more years as this is a high budget tour. For tours like this, I would advise you to start saving small amounts every month into some financial tools. As for me, I am a traveller and travel entails risks due to unforeseen events. Hence, I wanted to have a plan that not only secures my money but also grows my investment so that I fulfill my future travel goals. Therefore I chose lifelong insurance plans from ICICI Prudential Life. Their expertise in managing my money ensures that all my travel plans are accomplished without a doubt.
Pol’andRock’ (Formerly Woodstock) in Poland
One of the many music festivals on my bucket list, this has the maximum chances of being ticked off in August 2020. I plan to visit Poland to meet a friend and attend at least two music festivals with her. Pol’andRock’ is a free rock music festival and termed as one of the biggest open-air festivals in Europe, with an average attendance of 625,000 crazy rock fans. This sounds right up my alley and would surely be the first one that gets ticks off my bucket list.
These are the top 5 places that are on my mind. However, there are 100s of festivals around the world that I would love to visit. For that, I do my planning carefully and well in advance. Hotels, flights, food and any other expenses are usually flying above the roof during these times and hence proper planning will make your travel more enjoyable. As for me, with lifelong insurance plans from ICICI Prudential Life, I have made sure that no matter what place I wish to visit around the world, it becomes achievable. The best part about the plan is, it does not burn a hole in my pocket as I just have to pay small amounts every month to turn my big goals into reality. Wish to tick off any of the above places? Start planning from today.
